Think
safety : the weather changes very quickly in the mountains so
it is essential to be aware of the weather forecast before setting
out. Never leave alone and be equipped with an accurate map as well
as informing someone of the route to be taken. Never overestimate
your own abilities as this could put you as well as others in danger.
-
Leave
well equipped : choose hiking shoes that are comfortable and suited
to the particular activity that you have chosen to do. Even if it
is fine, have in your bag warm and waterproof clothing as well as
food and drink.
-
Be
well organized : in order to feel in "good form", it is advisable
to fill up with slow-acting sugars the day before the hike (pasta,
rice, starchy foods …). During the exercise consume regularly and
in small quantities items such as sweet things, dry fruit and sweetened
drinks. Protect yourself against the heat by being equipped with a
hat, sunglasses and sun lotion. Drink often so you are never thirsty.
-
Protect
your children : all this advice applies equally to children of
course. By observing some common sense basic rules, problems relating
to the altitude and the climate can be avoided (sunburn, dehydration,
over tiredness …). Be aware that even in a baby carrier a child can
become tired and dehydrated.
