Hikes you can do on your own:

packed snow trail from Bonneval to L'Ecot. A 5 km itinerary along the Arc River and marvelous frozen waterfalls. Discover the magnificent hamlet of L'Ecot at an altitude of 2000 m; as you cross the hamlet, you can admire the beauty of slate-roofed stone houses covered with a thick snowy mantle sculpted by winter storms. The Sainte Marguerite chapel links the two parts of the hamlet.

The plateau at Bessans, a neighboring village 4 km distant, offers many marked snowshoe trails. You can ride to the area on the FREE SKI BUS that connects all the villages in the Haute Maurienne region. See the Tourism Office for bus schedules.

Guided hikes:

The mid-mountain guides of the ESF ski school propose snowshoe hiking for half-day or full-day outings. It's a way to leave the well-trodden paths and admire exceptional mountain landscapes. Perhaps you'll come across ermines, rock ptarmigans, black grouse or mountain hares or see their tracks, and you will undoubtedly sight chamois and ibex, as well as the first marmots if you come in April.

Nighttime hikes in the moonlight:

When there is a full moon, the ESF proposes nighttime hikes on snowshoes. Silvery moonlight turns the landscape into a magic setting for an unforgettable hike.

Make your way across the cottony silence of the snow as thousands of stars twinkle above your head and the mountain tops are lighted by a moon that reveals peaks and craters like you have never seen before. Your guide or guides will have a surprise stop in store for you...

Hiking on foot

The snowshoe itinerary mentioned above that leads to L'Ecot can easily be followed on foot if you are wearing good boots.

You can also discover Bonneval, classified as one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France.

You will find walking itineraries on the plateau at Bessans, a neighboring village with numerous marked trails.

Cross-country skiing

Bonneval is a real paradise for lovers of cross-country skiing. The ESF ski school offers programs that range from initiation to half-day skiing, full day skiing or ski outings with overnight stays in mountain huts.

"BONNEVAL – VAL D'ISERE" SKI GETAWAY The ESF ski school proposes a day of great adventure with a transfer from Bonneval to Val d'Isère by helicopter and an off-run skiing return through the Iseran Pass via L'Ecot, crossing the virgin landscapes of the Vanoise National Park.
