Col de l'Iseran: road opening and closing

La route du col de l’Iseran est ouverte de juin au 21 octobre 2026. En fonction de la météo (neige), la circulation cependant peut être interrompue, notamment en automne. La route est fermée tout l’hiver.

Fermeture de la route le mercredi 21 octobre 2026

En hiver, le col est fermé à la circulation, généralement à partir du 1er lundi de novembre. En raison des conditions météorologiques actuelles, le col sera fermé cette année dès le 21 octobre. En hiver, il n’est donc pas possible de passer de Bonneval sur Arc à Val d’Isere par cette route.

The Iseran Pass Road is open

As Europe’s highest road pass (2,764 m), clearing snow from the Iseran Pass is a major undertaking that requires several weeks of work on both sides of the pass between May and early June.

The access road to the Col de l’Iseran has been open since June 12, 2026.

Snowbanks usually line the roadside until early July. They make for great selfies, but… be careful—there’s steady traffic from cars, motorcycles, and bicycles on this legendary pass along the Route des Grandes Alpes. Cyclists: take advantage of the bike-only climb during the Iserane event in late June!
