3 cool spots in Bonneval sur Arc
Recognized by UNESCO as a land of mountaineering, Bonneval sur Arc is a gateway to the mountains.
Thanks to its altitude, the heat is not felt at Bonneval sur Arc as it is further down the valley. Nevertheless, at 1800m it can get hot, even very hot during the day. All you have to do is climb a little higher towards the Col de l'Iseran, the glacial peaks that surround the village, or discover the springs of the Arc, the river that flows through the Maurienne valley and offers an ideal site for canyoning.
Canyoning in Ecot
The Ecot canyon is a well-known site in the region for canyoning in a remarkable natural environment.
The Arc river, which formed the Maurienne valley, rises just a little higher up, at the foot of the glaciers. Jumping into the torrent or sliding down the natural toboggans to arrive in water at around ten degrees Celsius makes this spot the best place to beat the heatwave! The breath of glaciers
We head for the Evettes glacial cirque, then the Grand Méan glacier, simply splendid with its iceberg lake. Up there, a jacket is a must, even when the heat wave hits the valley: at the foot of the glacier, the air is instantly colder.
The ascent can be made via the gorges de la Reculaz, where you can also admire a powerful waterfall, and the return via the classic path of the cirque des Evettes. You'll have had your fill of freshness, as well as a feast for the eyes.

On one side the Col de l'Iseran at 2770m - Europe's highest road pass - and on the other the Refuge du Carro at 2760m - Savoie's highest refuge. Between the two, a balcony trail. A hike through the mountain pastures, without too many changes in altitude or technical difficulties. Walk along the Pays and Plan des Eaux lakes, then recharge your batteries on the shores of the Black and White lakes just behind the Carro refuge.
