Screening - Le Doigt de Dieu, beyond the summits
Through the confidences of Michel Serres, renowned philosopher and mountaineer, and the accounts of novice climbers and guides, we enter the extraordinary world of the high mountains on the Traversée de la Meije.
Description
Michel Serres, a well-known philosopher, is a little-known mountaineer. He recalls his “initiatory” experiences in the mountains, particularly on an exceptional peak in the Alps: La Meije.
His deep connection to mountaineering fuels his philosophical thought—through commitment, his relationship to space and time, risk, death, and, ultimately, a keen perspective on our digital world. The mountain in another dimension.
At the same time, novice climbers and dedicated mountaineering guides set out to climb this magnificent peak in the Ecrins Massif.
Through philosophy in action, this film takes us deep into the heart of a symbolic initiation for the individual mountaineer—a transfiguration of the self.
A documentary by Yvan Estienne, Pierre Petit, and Cathy Jolibert, filmed in the heart of the Ecrins National Park in compliance with applicable regulations and using exceptional resources.
