The highest refuge of Savoie, ideal for acclimatization nights before going to the Mont Blanc or the Grand Paradis.

Description

A "solid" refuge on a large flat area, near two lakes, but in a high mountain site with nearby glaciers, and facing the long border ridge of the Levannas.
At an altitude of 2760m, in the wilderness of the Vanoise, the Carro refuge welcomes you, nestled between the white lake and the black lake, facing the glacial massif of the Albaron.
The guards welcome you for family hikes or climbs facing the Grand Paradis!

You park your car at the Ecot parking lot then follow the dirt road of the "la Duis" valley (you are entering the Vanoise National Park: no motorized vehicles are allowed).
At the place called "La Tulière", take the small path on the left (be careful: the sign is small!).
The path goes up the mountain pastures, passes on the stone bridge at the foot of the Montet waterfall and then meets the balcony path to reach the refuge.
