Oui, Bonneval sur Arc est le village de Belle et Sébastien : c’est là qu’ont été tournés les films avec Clovis Cornillac, Tchéky Karyo et Félix Bossuet.
Oui, mais… Bonneval sur Arc c’est surtout une station de ski, et… de gros ski ! C’est la station de la Marmotte Vénère, l’emblème du Freeride World Tour Qualifier à Bonneval sur Arc ! Chaque année, les riders et rideuses pros (ou amateurs de très gros niveau) débarquent du monde entier pour profiter des spots spectaculaires et des possibilités de freeride taille XXL.
Avec des quantités de neige qui atteignent fréquemment les 10m en cumulé, Bonneval sur Arc est une véritable pépite dans le milieu du freeride. A découvrir en mode Marmotte Vénère !

On the border with Italy, Bonneval sur Arc benefits from large "eastern returns" which bring enormous quantities of powder snow. At the end of the season, there is frequently a cumulative total of 10m!

Bonneval sur ArcIt is a competition that brings together the best French and European riders. It is also the antechamber to the Freeride World Cup, the "Freeride World Tour". To participate in this World Cup, you have to earn your place by accumulating points in national or continental level events: the « Freeride World Tour Qualifier ».
Plusieurs stations françaises accueillent des étapes du Freeride World Tour Qualifier. Des étapes classées en fonction de leur niveau de difficulté : de 1 étoile (les plus faciles qui sont ouvertes à tous mais qui rapportent peu de points) à 4 étoiles. A Bonneval sur Arc, la face où s’élancent les adultes est classée “4 étoiles”, le top du niveau français et européen !
The resort hosts two competitions:
the Freeride World Tour Junior, intended for juniors aged 15 to 18 (girls, boys, skiing, snowboarding). It follows the same model as the «adults»: judging, format, security, etc. Only the difficulty of the routes and the elevation changes. Info and registration FWTJ Bonneval sur Arc

Dozens of professional freeriders, or those aspiring to be, will be present to accumulate valuable points in the Freeride World Tour race. The two competitions take place in the same sector and at the same time, with the Juniors being close to the adults but in more accessible corridors. Spectators can therefore enjoy an intense and non-stop show.
Jumping, skiing, style: how is it all judged?
For a layman, not much distinguishes an exceptional run from a committed descent.
However, it is necessary to rank the dozens of skiers and snowboarders who launch themselves one after the other. Whether they make it to the bottom or not is not enough to know if they succeeded in their run. Fortunately, the competition judges have a trained eye.
To evaluate the run, the judges use a points system counting 100 graduations from 0.0 to 10.0. The choice of line, the fluidity of the run, the jumps and the level of control during the descent of the face are the key criteria of the judgment. This judgment is issued by a panel of 3 judges (3 for skiing, 3 for snowboarding) specially trained and certified by the Pro Freeriders Board (PFB), and supervised by a head judge per discipline.
