The Grand Méan Lake through the Evettes circus

It's more than a hike, it's an adventure in the universe of the high mountain. The Grand Méan glacier, a giant of ice, contemplates you from its 3260 meters of altitude and offers you a spectacle that you won't forget !

Description

After having gone up the Arc, the path goes into the spectacular Reculaz gorges and continues until the impressive Reculaz waterfall.

Then you have to cross the Roman bridge, as if suspended in the wild immensity of the grassy plains with a steppe-like appearance.

From there, the route becomes wilder. The ibex are often present in summer. From scree slabs to rocky slabs, you progress in the heart of the Cirque des Evettes, under the gaze of the glaciers of Albaron and Grande Ciamarella.

And here you are in front of the glacial lake of the Grand Méan, a little piece of Greenland or Patagonia. A cliff of ice falls directly into the lake on whose surface small icebergs float.

Strange noises emanate from the living glacier. Sometimes some blocks are detached in a deafening noise. We have the impression that the time stops.

To return to civilization gently, treat yourself to a gourmet stopover at the Evettes refuge on the way back.
