Description

Avoid the gorges of the Reculaz in wet weather, when descending, with children under 12 years old, or people who are not used to hiking, or anyone prone to vertigo.

Day hike : Departure from the refuge, climb to the foot of the Grand Néant glacier, 300 to 400m of ascent. Large glacial lake (which originates in the glacier (Icebergs). Possibility to see marmots and ibexes.

Location

Road access: Bonneval sur Arc (1800 m).
Modane - Val Cenis - Bonneval sur Arc. For all runs to Lécot, the mountain road is only cleared of snow from May onwards.
Itinerary :
From Bonneval, drive 4 km to the hammeau de l'Ecot. At the hammeau, climb the slopes on your right, skirting the cliffs. At the Col des Evettes, enjoy the view, then head due north to the refuge (5 mins).
Elevation gain: 600m, walking time: 1h30 - 2h. Snowshoeing and ski touring possible. Possibility of taking the path to John (Réculaz), a more difficult path (vertiginous) with 2 handrails for 50 m.
